Today I’m not feeling wildly motivated, but I am in the mood to talk about something clever: the fact that online, you really don’t need credentials, originality, or some perfect niche to make engaging content. Sometimes you just need… you.
And no one embodies that better than Charlotte Dobre.
I haven’t even checked out her website yet (note to self: doom-scroll that tonight), but I am definitely her audience. I’ve spent way too much time watching her read Reddit stories and react in real time — and somehow it’s endlessly entertaining.
And honestly?
It’s genius.
She’s not out here writing scripts, building sets, or doing heavy production.
She’s literally reading content that already exists, reacting to it, and adding her personality on top.
No original “topic.”
No expertise required.
No fancy training.
Just:
✔ find funny or dramatic posts
✔ read them well
✔ react like a human
✔ sprinkle in some personality
It works because she’s consistent, expressive, and treats the audience like her best friend on the couch. She even talks to the Reddit posters like she knows them — “Bestie, what are you doing??” — which instantly makes you feel included. Reddit itself basically hands her full story arcs, conflict, characters, plot twists, and an entire comments section full of ready-made feedback.
She just shows up and reacts.
And people love it.
It also proves something bigger:
People aren’t looking for polished perfection. They’re looking for a person.
Now compare her to Brad Mondo — who I also love. Brad has the credentials, the product lines, the demos, the expertise. He’s trained, he’s branded, he’s a whole professional machine. His reactions land because he knows hair and you trust him.
But Charlotte?
She makes equally addictive content about everything and nothing. No credentials, no certification in human behavior or relationships… yet she draws millions of people in because her personality carries the whole thing.
That’s the point.
Expertise helps, but personality is the real currency.
Brad spends more on production, sets, product lines, teams.
Charlotte spends… honestly, far less. A camera, decent lighting, and Reddit.
Both make huge money. Charlotte’s not public about hers, but it’s absolutely high six figures — probably seven.
And it’s all built on being exactly who she already is.
That’s what fascinates me today:
you don’t need to be the expert, or the authority, or the originator of content.
You don’t need credentials. You don’t need to reinvent anything.
You just need:
- your voice
- your opinions
- your perspective
- your consistency
And people will show up.
I’m only two days into writing this blog and still need to set up analytics, finish posts, make a plan, build out my whole “brand,” blah blah blah… but the real goal is simpler:
Write every day.
Show up as myself.
Let that be enough.
If Charlotte can build an empire reacting to the internet, maybe the rest of us don’t have to overthink it either.
